Accused was convicted of burglary and two counts of stealing. He was a 21-year-old first offender, and the value of the property involved was Shs. 86/- Without making specific findings as to his reasons for granting leniency, the magistrate imposed a sentence of 18 months’ imprisonment.
Held: There is nothing on the record to show any special reasons why the sentence of two years’ imprisonment was not imposed. Upon the State Attorney’s request for enhancement of the sentence to two years and 24 strokes, there is no alternative but to accede. Sentence enhance.
