The Embassy of the United Republic of Tanzania in Kigali presents its compliments to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of the Republic of Rwanda and has the honour to refer to the incident of 15 June 2025, wherein a military aircraft belonging to the Rwanda Defence Force entered the airspace of the United Republic of Tanzania without prior notification or diplomatic clearance.


The Government of the United Republic of Tanzania strongly protests this unauthorized incursion, which constitutes a serious breach of international aviation norms and a violation of the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the United Republic of Tanzania.


While recognizing the cordial and longstanding diplomatic relations between the two nations, the Government of Tanzania requests an immediate explanation regarding the circumstances that led to this incursion, and it demands assurances that such an incident will not recur.

Scenario 3: Request for Consular Assistance for Tanzanian Nationals Detained in Kenya - Draft Note Verbale

The High Commission of the United Republic of Tanzania in Nairobi presents its compliments to the Ministry of Foreign and Diaspora Affairs of the Republic of Kenya and has the honour to bring to its attention the detention of four Tanzanian nationals by the Kenyan Immigration Department on 13 June 2025 at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA), Nairobi.


According to information received by the High Commission, the individuals were detained on allegations of entering the Republic of Kenya without valid travel documents. The High Commission respectfully requests the Ministry to facilitate access to consular services for the detained individuals and to provide official details concerning the circumstances of their detention, charges, and the current legal process.

Furthermore, the High Commission kindly seeks the Ministry’s assistance in ensuring the welfare and legal rights of the Tanzanian nationals in accordance with the Vienna Convention on Consular Relations of 1963 and the existing cordial bilateral relations between our two countries.

Scenario 5: The Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Tanzania is requesting safe transit clearance for a delegation passing through a neighboring country en route to a regional conference.

Purpose: Request for diplomatic transit privileges.

The High Commission of the United Republic of Tanzania in Nairobi presents its compliments to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Kenya and has the honour to request transit clearance for a consignment of military equipment belonging to the Tanzania People’s Defence Force (TPDF), scheduled to pass through Kenyan territory en route to the United Nations Peacekeeping Mission in South Sudan.

The equipment, comprising non-lethal logistical supplies and protective gear, is expected to transit via the Namanga border on 12 July 2025 and exit through the Lokichoggio border post by 15 July 2025. All relevant documentation, including customs clearance and end-user certificates, are attached for reference.

Scenario 10: The Embassy of the United Republic of Tanzania in Addis Ababa has been informed of the upcoming African Union Summit scheduled for December 2025. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia has requested member states to submit the names of their official delegations in advance for accreditation, protocol arrangements, and logistical coordination.
